IN spite of the poor attendance at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), when this year’s edition of Ghana Meets Naija started, which led to fears that it would be a flop, the show was great.
About an hour into the show’s official start, there were just a handful of people in the auditorium.
To make matters worse, the underground artistes who came in as curtain raisers were so boring and one could hear some patrons murmuring to indicate that they were not too happy with what was going on.
One bright spot was DJ Vyrusky, who did a great job entertaining the patrons with a good number of popular songs.
Then came Dadie Opanka, whose short performance was splendid as he entertained with songs like Wedding Car and Tietie.
Highlife artiste Bless didn’t have to stress himself when he sang Chocho Mucho. Almost everyone in the auditorium sang the song word for word. He had to sing Chocho Mucho twice for his fans who couldn’t get enough of the song.
By the time artistes like Quamina MP, Krymi, Kojo Cue, Shaker, Tulenkey, Edem, J. Derobie and Kwaw Kese performed, the ground floor of the AICC was almost full.
Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Ras Kuuku had a great night; his entry onto the stage was just great; he was seated in the audience when he was mentioned as the next act and he started doing his own thing with people wondering where he was.
He finally stood up from among the audience and as he walked onto the stage, he started with a freestyle which the audience really enjoyed. There was no dull moment when he finally performed Nwansina and Kpagbum Style.
Fameye was another artiste who was wonderful on stage. He brought on a guitarist to perform his hit song Nothing I Get and he surprised patrons when he performed live.
